🐾 Nine Lives in the Underworld – First Devlog!


Hey everyone! 👋

We’re super excited to finally share a peek into our little passion project: a 1-bit, pixelated, top-down shooter starring a determined cat making its way through the underworld.

✨ The Core Idea

The story is straightforward : A cat must prove itself worthy of nine lives by surviving nine dangerous trials in the underworld.

  • Each time you beat a level, you earn an extra life.💖
  • It’s not roguelike—if you fail, you can retry from a checkpoint instead of starting from scratch.(Each level has 2-3 check-points)
  • It’s designed to be fast-paced, action-packed, and just a little unforgiving for first timers but hard enough for hard-core players.
  • 3 Bosses

One fun note: the game doesn’t have a name yet. We’re still tossing around ideas, so if anything clever comes to mind, let us know! 🐱

🐍 From Jam to Journey

This whole thing started as a game jam prototype my wife and I made together. We had so much fun with it that we couldn’t just leave it on the shelf.

We’ve only been working on it for about a week so far, and we’re already building up to a 3-level demo. Right now, we’re mainly focused on making sure it feels stable, playable, and fun to pick up and retry.


🔮 What’s Next

Our next steps are:

  • Final polish & bug-fixing on the demo.
  • Prepping the public build for release on itch.io.
  • Gathering early feedback to guide how we expand the full 9-trial journey.
